Feeling Overwhelmed? Find Rest in Jesus

Scripture

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Life can feel heavy — work, family, bills, health worries, relationships. If you’re reading this because you feel overwhelmed, this devotional is for you. Some days you wake up already tired. Other days you feel strong until one unexpected text, bill, or conversation knocks the breath out of you.

If that’s you today, you’re not weak — you’re human. And Jesus knows it. That’s why His invitation is simple and direct: Come to Me. He doesn’t ask you to fix everything first or show up perfect. He says, “Come as you are — weary, burdened, even overwhelmed — and I will give you rest.”

God’s rest doesn’t always mean your problems disappear. But it does mean you don’t face them alone. His presence steadies you. His love reminds you that you’re seen and cared for, even when life feels heavy.

Reflect:

  • What weight are you carrying today?
  • Have you tried to handle it all on your own?

Pause, take a deep breath, and picture laying it all at Jesus’ feet. Sometimes prayer is as simple as, “Lord, I can’t do this alone.”

Call to Action

Today, whisper this short prayer:
Jesus, I’m tired. I need Your rest. Please give me strength to face today.

And remember — He’s closer than the breath you just took.
